On February 27, 2020 Hereford will be hosting a blood drive. Open to all, students and parents alike. Students must be at least 17 years old or 16 with parent’s permission. Donors will report to the gymnasium where they will fill out a few documents and donate one pint of blood. The blood will be collected and distributed to the American Red Cross, where it will then be sent to various hospitals as needed. In past years the blood drive has had an average of 60 to 70 participants, however only 5 % of available donors donate. The process from start to finish takes roughly one hour to complete, but the actual drawing of blood takes ten to fifteen minutes. Afterwards, one can get refreshments and some snacks while they recover. Before going in to donate make sure to get good sleep, eat breakfast and drink lots of water. Donating one pint of blood has the ability to save or sustain up to three lives. Help your community.
