Every year we have new students come to Hereford, we also have another group of “newbies”: new teachers! This year we have five new teachers: Morgan Espeut, William Grome, Jennifer Houseknecht, Nolan Roe, and Ralph Causarano.

Espeut, is a Towson graduate with a bachelor degree in Family Science. She teaches Child Development, not only is this her first time teaching that course but this is her first-time teaching.  She grew up in Crofton and Annapolis. Outside of school she enjoys spending time with her two nephews and niece, going to the gym, shopping (her favorite stores are Boohoo, Forever 21, Marshalls, and Foot Locker), traveling, and learning new things. Over the summer she spent most of her time nannying and setting up her new apartment. Two fun facts about her is she has babysat over 25 children across Maryland, and is saving up to buy a Dodge Challenger sports car.

The newest addition to the language dept. is, Grome who graduated from Nazareth College of Rochester. He has been teaching for five years; four of which at Catonsville High School. He grew up in Syracuse, New York and spent most of this summer up there visiting his family. During his free time, he enjoys traveling, hiking, and bowling. His favorite food is sushi and he spent five years in Valencia, Spain in undergraduate.

Houseknecht teaches English GT 10 and AP 11 English. She worked for 12 years at Century High, in Sykesville Maryland, where she taught AP English, Creative Writing, Mythology, and Honors English. She attended Salisbury University for her undergraduate, and Western Maryland (now McDaniel College) for graduate. Houseknecht is married and has a daughter named Lolie, who is in first grade. Houseknecht likes to read, bake, do yoga, garden, and spend time at the beach. Over the summer she enjoyed time with her family, and vacationing in the Bahamas and Narragansett, Rhode Island. She has traveled to 10 different countries, and hopes to visit 10 more!

AP Environmental and Earth Sciences teacher, Causarano, has taught for 15 years but this is her first year teaching at the high school level. He grew up in Long Island, New York and went to Loyola College in Maryland. He is married with two kids, ages 2 and 4. During his free time he enjoys time with his family, and watching baseball and football. He is a Jets fan. Over the summer he visited Fenwick Island with his family.

Roe teaches World History and American Government. This is his eleventh year teaching, he taught at Western Tech for eight years, and spent two years at Catonsville Middle. He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and attended Bowling Green State University in Ohio. He is married, and has no kids. He enjoys playing/watching/coaching basketball. Over the summer he traveled to Ireland.
