A STROKE OF GENIUS: Ms. Amber Carky (second from left), a fourth-year art teacher, won “Outstanding New Teacher in High School” at the Maryland Art Education Association Convention held on Friday, October 19th. She never applied for the award, but received an email from the art director of Baltimore County Public Schools notifying her of her achievement. A certificate of honor was awarded to Ms. Carky at the ceremony. Ms. Carky feels “very honored” about the award which came as a “big surprise to her.” She said she was “very excited to hear about it.”
