Boys lacrosse team takes on Franklin

The boy’s lacrosse game against Franklin on Friday, April 24, was a must win for the team. Since both teams are in the same Baltimore County division, the winner would win the tiebreaker over the other thus getting them into the County Championship if the teams had identical records at the end of the season. The

“This game could be a turning point for our season,” said middie Ben Bittner (’15). “It’d show we can beat a good team late in the season.”

The boys got off to a hot start scoring the first goal of the game. The score went back and forth through the entire first half until the end, when Franklin scored two straight and went into halftime up by two.

A second half surge was led by goalie Austin Williams (’16) and Cole Quattrocche (’16). Williams practically shut down Franklin’s offense only allowing them to score two goals the entire half, while Quattrocche was tearing up their defense on the other end of the field.

With one minute left, the game was tied 8 to 8. The Hereford boys has possession of the ball. Bryant Tiller (’16) made a move from behind the goal with 50 seconds left causing Quattrocche’s defender to slide off of him and towards Tiller. Quattrocche was wide open for the ball and off of a pass from Tiller, was able to put it in the back of the net. This was the game winner.

“It was a great win for us,” said defender Joe Patti (’16). “It is a great start for May, especially with the playoffs coming just around the corner.”
