Four students have been named semifinalists for the National Merit Scholarship: Maggie Cason, Jesse Clarke, Christine Dreyer, and Connor O’Rourke. The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. These students were among the highest-scoring entrants in Maryland. Hereford also had 13 students commended in the National Merit Program. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. To be considered for the National Merit Scholarship, semifinalists must advance to finalist standing in the competition by meeting high academic standards in all of their classes.
The following students have also been honored for their PSAT/NMSQT achivements: Henry Bison, Jessica DeGroot, Hannah Doxzen, Megan Fantom, Elijah Ginsburg, Elijah Guiliano, Dana Guth, Rachel Gutall, Aaron Leininger, Jonathon Luckin, Paige McMurtrie, Amanda Rae, and Benjamin Vantran.
